Technical Sales Engineer

Hutchinson Stop-choc is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of anti-vibration and shock isolation mountings, avionics racking and illuminated aircraft cockpit instrument & display systems. We supply to a wide range of industrial, aerospace and defence clients across the globe.

Role:

Based at our Slough office, the sales team plays a pivotal technical and commercial role within the company, working hand-in-hand with the design team, and the successful candidate will spend time visiting and developing business relationships with key clients, providing them with technical and commercial solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing an understanding of the programmes, market customers and competitors.
  • Identifying and developing new business and converting these into orders, which will include regular client visits.
  • Carrying out product selection and analysis using analysis software.
  • Preparing technical and commercial proposals, budgets and competitor market information.
  • Establishing technical and commercial requirements and assisting clients to develop specifications as required.
  • Negotiating technical and commercial contracts.
  • Identifying and project managing new products and applications.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified and capable mechanical engineer.
  • High calibre confident individual with good people skills.
  • An eye for detail and capable of understanding complex technical and commercial matters.
  • Energetic and driven person.
  • A clean, UK valid driving and PC literacy.

Beneficial to have:

  • Graduate qualified mechanical engineer.
  • Experience in selling technical products to the aerospace, defence and naval markets.
  • Background in shock and vibration.

Package:

  • Hours: 8.30am to 5pm (Monday to Friday) with 1 hour for lunch
  • 25 days annual holiday

Internal Technical Sales Support Engineer

Hutchinson Stop-choc is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of anti-vibration and shock isolation mountings, avionics racking and illuminated aircraft cockpit instrument & display systems. We supply to a wide range of industrial, aerospace and defence clients across the globe.

The Role:

The role includes the evaluating of customer technical and commercial enquiries, application engineering using in house analysis programmes and technical data to select appropriate products to meet customer requirements, preparation of technical reports and proposals.  The role will offer a wide variety of engineering application work in all areas of engineering including aerospace, defence, offshore, automotive, auto sport, rail, general industry and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting external sales engineers with technical and commercial support as required.
  • Preparation of product technical information and data sheets.
  • Carrying out product selection and analysis using analysis software.
  • Managing client projects through the proposal and quotation process.
  • Liaising with internal engineering, production and group companies to obtain technical data and cost information as required to meet customer requirements.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified mechanical engineer
  • A well organised individual capable of multitasking
  • Ability to develop good working relationships and communicate in a polite and knowledgeable fashion
  • An eye for detail and capable of understanding complex technical and commercial matters.
  • Positive and enthusiastic approach to work

Beneficial to have:

  • Experience in technical sales support
  • An understanding of vibration would be useful although training will be provided
